Hoodoos galore at Bryce Canyon National Park

Today was our first full day at Bryce Canyon National Park. To celebrate we slept in!! We have gotten so tired with all the traveling and hiking that we needed to just not set an alarm. When we finally woke up we took showers ($2 for 8 minutes!) and headed out for a our hike.
We hiked the Navajo Loop/ Queens Garden trail. There are two trailhead points, we took off from Sunrise which made the end of the trail to get the best views of Thors Hammer and the hoodoos, mainly uphill. It was about 3.5 miles total and sunny out. But it takes you to the absolute best view in the park. Bryce Canyon is known for the hoodoos, the eroded towers of rock, that are bright orange. Here are some pics from this uphill, yet rewarding hike.

As you can see from the one picture you have to walk up some steep switchbacks to get to the views at the end. Just like the hike to delicate arch you go up, up, up and then finally you are rewarded with this great view of nature.
It was heating up so we headed back to camp for lunch and set up the hammock. We relaxed a little and then had to do some laundry. Luckily the washers also took gold dollars so we were able to use some of our newly acquired Sacagewea $1 coins. The dryers took forever so by the time Landry was all said and done it was dinner time.

We enjoyed some campfire food and some Hoodoo beer from Uinta Brewery in Utah. It was awesome. Tomorrow we head to Zion! Cheers!

  1. Those pictures are ridiculous. Very nice! And glad you’re enjoying Uinta. If either of you are into IPAs I recommend their Hop Nosh. That’s one of the only Uintas we get up in Boston.
